Carcinoma de esófago en un adolescente de 14 años de edad con esófago de Barrett: Reporte de un caso y revisión de la literatura

Los carcinomas del esófago son neoplasias extremadamente raras en niños y adolescentes y la literatura médica está limitada a reportes y series de casos. En su etiología están asociados algunos factores de riesgo implicados con la inflamación y la irritación crónica de las paredes del esófago.
Los autores presentan el caso de un adolescente de 14 años de edad con retardo mental y esófago de Barrett que desarrolló un carcinoma adenoescamoso del tercio medio del esófago. Se describen las características clínicas, los hallazgos radiológicos, la patología y el tratamiento adyuvante y quirúrgico recibido por el paciente.
