Abstract

The association between cancer and AIDS in children is rare. Perhaps Non Hodgkin Linfoma (NHL) is the most common cancer in pediatric HIV positive patients. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy with NHL, stage IV (due to bone-marrow and Central Nervous Systm involvement). As his parents died of AIDS, this diagnosis was confirmed in the patient. Medical treatment was difficult because of the severe toxicity of chemotherapy and antiretroviral drugs. The patient presented a relapse during treatment and died. This type of pathology has been increasing in the last few years. Every case provides us with experience and better support to find out guidelines for the diagnosis and therapy for this disease.
